Since the end of the 1980s, continuous innovations in medical technology, especially laser technology, and in lens implants (ICL, IOL) and glaucoma implants (MIGS), have opened up new avenues to patients with the desire for sharp, unobstructed vision. Today, modern ophthalmology therefore comprises a variety of recognised technological and surgical methods.
Unlike many laser centres, Dr. Neuhann’s Eye Clinic Munich is not limited only to LASIK, Femto-LASIK, LASEK, Smile or PRK. We also offer a wide range of refractive procedures and corrective options. Our broad portfolio means you are assured of advice that is not restricted to only a single procedure. Instead, we explain all the options that may be suitable for you.
Based on the results of your examination, we will help you decide on the laser eye procedure that will deliver the desired outcome. The various laser procedures always have the same goal: to correct the visual defect by precisely modulating the cornea, making glasses or contact lenses history.
Refractive laser surgery helps in many cases to optimally restore the vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses. Precise, ultra-modern laser systems are the key aspect of this surgical method:
Bausch & Lomb Victus femtosecond laser platform
Schwind Amaris 1050RS Excimer laser
Both technologies entail precision instruments that are highly controllable. Even patients who were not eligible in the past can now be treated.
At Eye Clinic Munich – Augenklinik am Marienplatz, we perform many laser-assisted eye operations. Such systems offer a high level of comfort for patients and consistent results in many areas of refractive surgery. The enhancement of the excimer laser system, for example, has facilitated the first ever non-contact correction of short-sightedness, long-sightedness, and corneal curvature.
But even in situations where modern laser systems cannot be used, Eye Clinic Munich offers a range of sophisticated, individually selected implants.
Refractive laser surgery helps in many cases to optimally restore the eyesight without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
People who never had to wear glasses when they were younger find it most difficult to adjust to reading glasses or other reading aids. Various options are now available for correcting such conditions, even in those with age-related long-sightedness (presbyopia).
As we grow older, the risk of eye diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and corneal thinning increases. However, modern diagnostic methods and medical technology mean it is possible in many cases to (largely) restore the eyesight.
Dr Neuhann is one of the world’s leading experts in this procedure. He was not only the first surgeon to implant these lenses in patients in the early 1990s, but he also implanted the world’s first toric version of EVO Visian ICL in 1998. This flexible, biocompatible artificial lens is implanted in front of the natural crystalline lens and is neither palpable nor visible from the outside.
Eye Clinic Munich specialises in laser procedures and refractive and intraocular surgery on the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. For advice concerning surgery or an eye disorder and its treatment, patients should consult our outpatient medical centre (MVZ). Our eye doctors at MVZ Dr. Neuhann ophthalmologist Munich, Dr. Neuhann ophthalmologist Dachau are responsible for providing an initial consultation and examination. After surgery, your care can be managed by your own eye doctor as before.
General check-ups, preventive screening and other eye-related issues that do not require surgery can be managed by our ophthalmologists in Munich and Dachau.
